CPC – HGV / LGV DRIVERS

Initial CPC Mod 2 & 4 were introduced on 10/09/2009 for all new drivers who wish to drive commercially. Drivers exempt from Mod 2 & 4 are as follows, however all drivers must complete Driver Periodic Training if they wish to use it for hire & reward (see below)

• If you passed your lorry test prior to 10/09/2009.

• If you passed your car test before January 1997 you automatically gained C1 which gives you “grandfather rights”

If you do not fall into any of the categories above then you must complete Mods 2 & 4 to drive commercially. You may follow the order to sit the tests below, however

• You can sit Mod 2 & 4 after passing Mod 1a, 1b & 3.

• You must pass Mod 2 before you can sit Mod 4.

Training for Mod 4 is: training & use of vehicle for test = £150 + VAT. Only on completion of Mod 4 will you receive your Driver Qualification Card which lasts for 5 years.

DRIVER PERIODIC TRAINING

• This is a legal requirement for all Lorry drivers who drive commercially. Any driver who fell into the exemption above must complete 35 hours i.e. 5 days Driver CPC by 10th September 2014. Only on completion of 35 hours will you receive your Driver Qualification Card which lasts for 5 years. We advise that you then complete 1 days Driver CPC per year for the rest of your Driving career to ensure your Driving Qualification Card is updated.

•  All new drivers who receive a Driver Qualification Card after passing Module 4 are best to keep themselves updated by completing one days training ( 7 hours) per year so that by the time the Driver Qualification Card expires you will automatically have completed and submitted 35 hours.

The Driver CPC Course is classroom based and is usually held on a Saturday (contact us for availability/dates). On completion of your licence details being uploaded on to the DSA website you will receive an attendance certificate

• Cost £65

• Includes DSA data upload fee of £8.75
